Whatever happened to the male sirens? In early ancient Greek mythology, they were just as prevalent as the females. They were commonly depicted as half-bird creatures, similar to the females except their beards. But then they disappeared, and eventually, sirens were only seen as dangerous mermaids.
At first, male sirens were seen as just like female sirens. They were soul birds whose job was to guide the souls of the dead to the afterlife. Therefore, male sirens didn’t have their own separate name, and they were just called ‘sirens’ like the females.
